How to Order Custom Apparel

A step-by-step guide to browsing, customizing, and ordering decorated apparel

Ordering custom apparel with embroidery, heat transfers, or other decorations is easy through our online shop. Whether you need a single embroidered hat or a bulk order of printed shirts for your team, you can set everything up right from the website. Here's how it works.

1 Browse the Shop

Head to our online shop to see available products. You can filter by category — Apparel, Quarter Zips, Structured Caps — or browse all products at once. Each product shows pricing, available colors, and a "Customizable" badge if it supports decoration.

If you already know what you're looking for, use the search bar at the top of the shop to find it quickly.

2 Select Your Product

Click on any product to see its detail page. Here you'll find the full product description, material specs, available colors, and sizes. Select the color and size you want.

If you need the same item in multiple sizes or colors, you'll add each variation to the cart separately — this lets you customize decorations per item if needed.

3 Add a Decoration

This is where your item becomes custom. On the product page, you'll see a green "Customize with Decoration" section. Click the "Add Decoration" button to get started.

You'll choose three things for each decoration:

Location

Where the decoration goes on the item. Options vary by product — for a cap, you'll see choices like Cap Front, Cap Back, Cap Side - Left, and Cap Side - Right. For apparel, you'll typically see options like Left Chest, Right Chest, Full Back, and more.

Method

How the decoration is applied. Choose from:

Embroidery

Stitched directly into the fabric. Best for logos, text, and designs on hats, polos, and jackets. Premium, durable finish. Learn more →

Heat Transfer

Full-color DTF or sublimation prints pressed onto the garment. Great for detailed, multi-color designs and large graphics.

Patches

Embroidered or printed patches applied to the garment. Good for a classic, versatile look.

Vinyl

Cut vinyl heat-pressed onto the item. Ideal for names, numbers, and simple single-color designs.

Custom

Have something specific in mind that doesn't fit the other categories? Select Custom and describe what you need in the special instructions.

Design

Your artwork. You have two options:

My Designs — If you've ordered from us before, your previously uploaded designs are saved here. Select one to reuse it — no need to upload again.

Upload New — Upload your logo, artwork, or design file. We accept JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, PDF, AI, EPS, and PSD files up to 25MB. You'll also fill in:

  • Design Name — Give it a name so you can find it easily for future orders (e.g., "Company Logo" or "Boat Name - Blue").
  • Special Instructions — This is your chance to tell us anything specific: thread colors, placement notes, size preferences, or any other details. The more info you give us here, the better.

After filling everything out, click "Use This Artwork" to attach it to the product.

Important: New artwork requires approval and will generate an estimate for review before production begins. This ensures you're happy with the pricing and we have everything we need before we start.

4 Add Multiple Decorations (Optional)

Want a logo on the front and something on the back? Click "Add Decoration" again to add a second (or third) decoration to the same item. Each decoration gets its own location, method, and design selections.

This is great for setups like:

  • Embroidered logo on the left chest + printed graphic on the full back
  • Boat name on the front of a cap + small flag on the side
  • Company logo on the chest + employee name on the sleeve

5 Review Pricing and Add to Cart

Below the decoration section, you'll see the pricing breakdown:

  • Product Price — The base cost of the garment
  • Decoration pricing — Added based on your chosen method and design (displayed after artwork approval for new designs)
  • Total per Item — Your all-in cost per piece

When everything looks right, set your Quantity and click the blue "Add to Cart" button.

6 Complete Your Order

Click the cart icon in the top navigation to review your cart. From here you can adjust quantities, remove items, or continue shopping to add more products.

When you're ready, proceed to checkout. You'll provide your contact and shipping information, and we'll send you an order confirmation.

For new artwork: After you submit your order, we'll review your design files, digitize your logo if needed (for embroidery), and send you a proof or estimate for approval before we begin production.

Stock Designs: Skip the Upload

Don't have your own logo or want to browse ready-made options? Visit our Stock Apparel Designs page to see pre-made designs you can apply to compatible products. These are ready to go — no artwork approval or digitizing needed. You can filter by decoration method (Embroidery, Heat Transfer, Patches, Vinyl, Custom) to find what you're looking for.

Tips for the Best Results

Send vector files when possible. AI, EPS, and SVG files produce the sharpest results for both embroidery and printing. If you only have a JPG or PNG, send the highest resolution you have and we'll work with it.
Keep embroidery designs simple. Embroidery looks best with clean lines, bold text, and limited colors. Very fine details, tiny text, and photographic images don't translate well to thread. If you're unsure whether your design will work for embroidery, just ask — we'll let you know.
Use the Special Instructions field. If you have specific thread color requests, want puff embroidery on a hat, need a specific size for the logo, or have any other notes, put them here. It saves time and helps us get it right the first time.
Order extras for teams. If you're ordering for a group, grab 2-3 extra pieces in your most common sizes. New hires, replacements, and sizing swaps will use them.
